I am officially an Emmy nominated meteorologist. Boy, I like the sound of that! No I’m NOT going to walk the red carpet with stars from The Office. There are regional Emmy award ceremonies all across the country that recognize local television. I am nominated for best “On Camera Talent Anchor-Weather” for the 34th Boston/New England Emmy awards.
I'm the only meteorologist in Connecticut to receive an Emmy nomination this year! But you have to submit a tape to even be considered and I'm not sure how many of my colleagues entered. I know Geoff Fox stopped sending in tapes after getting seven of the golden trophies. Then there are people like Joe Furey who never enter. When you have been forecasting the weather for close to 20 years, I guess you don't need an Emmy to confirm your expertise in your field.
Well I needed that confirmation now more than ever! I have been reading a lot of negative comments about myself lately. People can be especially cruel behind the anonymity of the Internet. I get comments questioning my credibility and insinuating that my looks are the only reason for my recent shift to weekdays.
Well I know my degree is real. I remember crying late at night at Penn State because I was overwhelmed with classes that I thought I would never get through. Cloud Physics, Atmospheric Thermodynamics, Calculus 1 &2, Differential Equations, Mesoscale & Synoptic Meteorology...the list goes on and on. But I got though four years, with honors.
Here’s where I’m going with this…I know my level of dedication to my job and to the people who watch me to get an accurate forecast. But it’s also nice to know colleagues in my profession are recognizing my on air talents too. This Emmy nomination couldn't come at a better time for me! I will resume dancing on the couch now.

I think you're great. I think you're a wonderful role model, coming off as someone who loves your job and the science behind it.
I think you are great also, and a good role model for students interested in meteorology. You make the weather interesting. I really get a kick out of your facial expressions while you are talking about the weather; you make the weather credible, not the typical boring forecaster.
with the trend in local tv seems to be young/good looking on air talent, it just so happens you fit that bill. I watch all the major channels weather forcasters and NONE have your easy going yet professional delivery. You always look really 'put together' but that just is window dressing on your great pesentation. Keep it up. EVERYONE at the top has detractors. Goes with the territory. Sad but true. YOu are appreciated for what you do and what you have achieved.

I agree with the other comments. You have a gift and definitely add more of a scientific angle to the weather forecast. Ignore those other idiots. They are morons. You come across as a smart lady that knows what she's talking about. Keep up the good work.
I think you do a great job and it's a shame that they had to bring in a hack like Geoff Fox to try to steal your thunder, so to speak. He wasn't needed when you and Joe Fury do such a fantastic job.
