Wet, Windy & Warm Friday!

You might want to take down the outdoor Halloween decorations Friday morning.  Otherwise we’ll see a lot of fake cobwebs and foam tombstones blowing around.  Winds could gust 35 to 50 miles an hour in the morning as a cold front barrels though.  I also think a lot of the gorgeous fall foliage will take a hit. Ahead of the front it’s warm with high temperatures in the low 70s. Showers and areas of heavy rain will last through midday, followed by some clearing in the afternoon. Watch for slippery roads with wet leaves scattered about. While Saturday remains somewhat mild, cold and blustery conditions return Sunday.

Tonight: Showers, mild, patchy fog. Temperatures holding steady or even rising through the 60s.

Tomorrow: Morning showers and areas of heavy rain through midday, followed by some clearing. Windy and warm. Gusts 35 to 50 miles an hour. A Wind Advisory is in effect from 6 am – 6 pm. High temperatures in the low 70s.

Saturday: Partly cloudy for central and western Connecticut, mostly cloudy in southeastern Connecticut.
Slight chance for a shower. High: Low to mid 60s.

Sunday: Partly to mostly sunny, blustery and colder. High temperatures in the upper 40s to low 50s.

Monday: Another chilly day but not as windy. High temperatures in the upper 40s and low 50s.

Tuesday: Mostly sunny, a bit milder than recent days. High temperatures in the low to mid 50s.

Cooler Tuesday

After a mild Monday with highs in the low 60s, Tuesday will be noticeably cooler!  Temperatures will struggle to hit the 50 degree mark with abundant sunshine. Clouds return Wednesday with the chance for a shower in spots in the morning.  The afternoon looks a bit brighter, turning partly cloudy.  There is a better chance for a shower or two Thursday.  Trick or treaters may have to dodge a few drops. But ghosts and goblins will not need to bundle up with Halloween temperatures near 60 degrees.

Tonight: Frost Advisory in effect for the shoreline. Partly cloudy, cool. Lows: 27-35.

Tomorrow: Mostly sunny, about ten degrees cooler than Monday! North wind at 5 to 10 miles an hour. High temperatures in the upper 40s and low 50s.

Wednesday: Cloudy start to the day with the chance for a shower in spots. Then slow clearing, turning partly cloudy by afternoon. High temperatures in the low to mid 50s.

Thursday: Mostly cloudy and mild. Chance for a few showers in the afternoon and evening. High temperatures around 60 degrees.

Friday: Mostly cloudy, warm and windy. A period of rain developing, some heavy. High temperatures in the mid to upper 60s.

Saturday: A mix of sun and clouds. High temperatures in the low 60s.

Sunday: Sunny but much cooler with high temps in the upper 40s to around 50 degrees.

Work Week Summary: Mild Start, Cool Mid Week, Mild Finish

The work week will get off to a pleasant start.  Temperatures will approach 60 degrees on Monday but the mild air will not stick around. A cold front will knock about ten degrees off the high temp on Tuesday with abundant sunshine. Clouds return Wednesday with the chance for a shower in spots. In recent years the weather has spoiled Halloween fun. This year looks more promising!  A passing shower is possible in the afternoon. But heavy rain should hold off until late Thursday night or Friday morning.

Tonight: Clear to partly cloudy, frosty. Low: 32-40

Tomorrow: Sunshine mixing with clouds throughout the day. Milder with a high temperature around 60 degrees. West wind becoming northerly at 5 to 15 miles an hour.

Tuesday: Mostly sunny and cooler. High temperatures in the upper 40s and low 50s.

Wednesday: Mostly cloudy, chance for a shower in spots. High temperatures in the low to mid 50s.

Thursday: Mostly cloudy, milder. Chance for a light shower in the afternoon. High temperatures near 60 degrees. Heavier rain late Thursday night.

Friday: Areas of rain tapering off. Clouds break for some sunshine. High temperatures in the low to mid 60s. Cooling off next weekend.

Let The Battle Begin!

There is a battle going on between high pressure over the northeast and the remnants of tropical storm Karen moving up the east coast. Which one will win? It’s a tough forecast.  The faster a weather system moves, the easier it is to predict.  But this storm is barely moving thanks to an omega block which you can think of as a traffic backup in the atmosphere.

Here’s our best assessment of the forecast right now. On Wednesday dry air holds its ground with sunshine filtered by high clouds. Temperatures will climb into the mid to upper 60s. Clouds will lower and thicken up at night into Thursday. Here’s where the forecast gets tricky. Right now it looks like the storm will get just close enough to bring a few showers late Thursday into Friday. But it’s a close call!

For now, plan for showers late week and we’ll keep you posted on any changes.  I’m just thankful it’s not January and we’re not talking about dry weather versus plowable snow!

A few Wedding Pics

You all know him....the one and only Geoff Fox was in attendance at my wedding this weekend. I'll be posting pics as I settle in. But he already posted a few I want to share with you.  Here is one of my faves.
The Bellagio fountains were supposed to go off after the rabbi pronounced us husband and wife.  But something went wrong.  No fountains, awkward silence. To stall...the DJ started playing Elvis' Viva Las Vegas and the rabbi asked everyone to sing along.  It was hilarious!

Check out Geoff's blog with lots of pics: here
