Summer arrives June 20th at 7:09 PM and the season will kick off with record breaking heat! You still have tonight and much of tomorrow to prepare for the excessive heat and humidity that will peak Wednesday and Thursday.
The warm up begins tomorrow with temperatures in the low 80s inland, mid 70s at the coast. The air will feel muggy but not uncomfortable. Tuesday’s weather will be fairly typical for late June.
But Wednesday and Thursday are far from average June heat. In fact, we could break records. Blow torch southwesterly winds will pump in the heat and humidity that has been roasting much of the nation. Temperatures both days will range between 95-100 degrees inland, 90-95 along the shoreline. The humidity will make it feel like 100+ degrees.
The last time temperatures were this warm was in late July of last year!
The record high temperature in the greater Hartford area is 96 degrees both Wednesday and Thursday. The record high temperature in Bridgeport is 93 degrees on Wednesday and 95 degrees on Thursday. Those records will be challenged or broken!
Friday also looks hot but not as oppressive with temperatures in the 80s to near 90. A cold front will likely break the heat late day and may be accompanied by thunderstorms.
