No Tornado In MA. NWS Estimates 90-100 MPH Winds!

After investigating the damage in Massachusettes, the NWS determined that a microbust caused the damage in the Wilbraham and Springfield areas in Hampden County on Tuesday. No tornado this time. A funnel cloud was spotted, but it never touched down.

A microburst is a fast moving column of sinking air that comes down from a cloud. When that air hits the ground, it spreads out in all directions. Microbursts can cause extensive damage and can sometimes look like tornado damage. In this case the winds reached speeds of 90-100 mph!!
