Mom Frank made a cameo on the News at 4 Tonight!

My mom made a cameo on the News at 4 today. Jenn and Lorenzo did a story on how high waisted jeans are back in style. The script said something about "raiding your Mom's closet" and my Mom just so happened to be visiting me in the studio. About 3 mins prior I ran into the control room and surprised her! Dry, Pleasant Weekend

A big offshore storm will miss us this weekend. That’s good news with only 4 precious summer weekends left (but who is counting). Both days will feature low humidity with partly to mostly sunny skies. If I had to get picky Saturday will feature a bit more sun and slightly milder temperatures than Sunday (by a degree or two). For those of you who want rain for the lawn or garden, Tuesday looks promising. Humidity returns too with scattered showers and a period of heavy rain possible.

Tonight: Partly cloudy. Low: 55-65.

Tomorrow: Mostly sunny, low humidity. High: 82-85.

Sunday: Partly cloudy, pleasant. High: 80-85.

Monday: Increasing clouds. High: 80-85.

Tuesday: Cloudy and humid with showers or periods of rain. Rain could be heavy later in the day or at night. High: 73-78.

Wednesday: Clouds break for sunshine, turning less humid. High: 80-83.

Farewell 90s! For Now At Least...

After 8 days of summer heat (and humidity at times), cooler air is on the way.  No more 90s! Wednesday will start off with bright sunshine. But clouds will bubble up throughout the afternoon as a weak cold front moves through. There is a chance for an isolated shower or thunderstorm. But a vast majority of the state will stay dry. Thursday looks gorgeous with lots of sunshine and low humidity. We’re still watching the chance for rain Friday or Saturday. But the storm could miss to the south.

Tonight: Chance for an early shower or storm in spots. Low: 60-67.  

       

Tomorrow: Sunshine mixing with some afternoon clouds. Less humid and not as warm as recent days. High: 82-86.

Thursday: Mostly sunny, cooler. High: 78-83.

Friday: A mix of clouds and sun. Still watching a storm to our south which could bring some rain if it gets any closer. High: 75-80.

Saturday: Partly sunny. Watching a storm to our south that could bring showers if it gets any closer. High: 75-80.

Storms Break The Heat

This warm/hot stretch of summer weather is almost over! Tuesday will be the last day with near 90 degree heat before temperatures tumble.

The change in the weather will arrive in the wake of a cold front that could trigger some thunderstorms.  There are two chances for storms on Tuesday. One early in the morning (before/around daybreak) and another in the mid-afternoon.  Both rounds of thunderstorms will be hit or miss. But anything that develops could be strong to severe. Gusty/damaging winds are the biggest threats.

Wednesday and Thursday look good with cooler temperatures and less humidity than recent days. But wet weather returns Friday and Saturday with showers or even a period of steady heavier rainfall.  We’ll be tracking the timing closely as we know our summer weekends in New England are oh, so precious!

Temps Remain Steady, Big Warm Up Next Week

Great sleeping weather is on the weather menu again tonight. So crack open those windows and give the A/C a break.

Friday starts off sunny. But clouds will bubble up in the afternoon as disturbance swings through Southern New England. A shower or thunderstorm is possible in a few towns with the chance for small hail. Saturday looks like the pick of the weekend with partly cloudy skies. Sunday isn’t a washout. But there is a chance for a few morning showers or an afternoon thunderstorm.

If you are a fan of the 80s with low humidity, enjoy the next several days. Heat builds with 90s in the forecast by Tuesday or Wednesday. A heat wave is in the forecast!

Tomorrow: Sunshine mixing with afternoon clouds. Slight chance for a shower or thunderstorm in the afternoon. But most towns will stay dry. High: 82-84.

Showers Saturday, Summer Heat Sunday

The humidity makes a comeback this weekend. A warm front will keep skies mostly cloudy on Saturday along with the chance for a shower or two.  There’s no need to cancel outdoor plans. But keep in mind that you may have to step inside briefly if a shower moves over your town.

While Saturday is not a wash out, there’s no question that Sunday is a better beach day. You may want to start reserving your spot in the sand now. We could hit 90 degrees (or warmer) for the first time this summer! There is a chance for an isolated late day storm on Sunday. But most towns will stay dry.  There is a better chance for thunderstorms Sunday night and Monday. Some could be strong, followed by less humid conditions on Tuesday.

Summer heat remains into the middle of next week with temperatures flirting with 90 degrees several days in a row.

Tomorrow: Mostly cloudy, chance for a few showers or an isolated thunderstorm. High: 78-83.

Monday: Partly cloudy, thunderstorms likely. Some could be strong. High: 83-87.

Tuesday: Sunny, warm and less humid. High: 84-89.

Wednesday: Hot without the humidity. High: 85-90. Chance for a late day shower or thunderstorm.

Heavy Downpours, Thunder Wednesday

Scattered downpours and patchy fog are in store for tonight with lows around 70 degrees.

Wednesday will remain humid with temperatures around 80 degrees. Showers and thunderstorms will be more widespread than they were on Tuesday. While we are not expecting severe weather, any storm that develops has the potential to cause some minor poor drainage flooding. Most of the storms will fire up in the late morning through the afternoon. By the evening commute showers will be tapering or ending with some clearing possible late day.

Gorgeous weather returns on Thursday and Friday, with sunshine, low humidity, and temperatures around 80. While a warm up is possible this weekend, so is the threat for some wet weather. There is still a lot of uncertainty for Sunday. We'll keep you posted!

Dreary 4th, Summery Sunday

Clouds will fill the sky along with fireworks this Fourth of July. A storm approaching from the south will be just close enough to fire off a shower or two. But not every town will see one. The clouds will hold back temperatures with highs in the low 70s for most.  Luckily, that storm will be departing around sunset.  That means fireworks displays should go off without a hitch. Sunday is much better with lots of sun, low humidity and high temperatures in the 80s. No doubt beaches will be packed!

Soaking Weekend Rain But It's Not A Total Wash

A windswept soaking rain will impact the weekend.  But the timing of the heaviest rain will help salvage some of our outdoor plans. Saturday looks mainly dry with the chance for shower late in the day.  Some towns will remain dry until Saturday night when steadier rain moves in, coming down heavy at times. Early Sunday morning is a soaker with a few lingering showers through the rest of the day.  Some brightening or breaks of sun are possible in the afternoon. A warming trend arrives next week.

Heavy Rain This Weekend

Friday will start off cloudy with the chance for a shower or two (mainly in the morning).  Some clearing is possible in the afternoon, especially late day.  This weekend will feature a period of heavy rain and cooler than average temperatures. But at least it won’t be a total wash out. Saturday morning looks dry with the chance for a few afternoon showers.  Luckily, the heaviest rain holds off until Saturday night.  Early heavy rain Sunday will taper to scattered showers for the rest of the day.
