Soaking Weekend Rain But It's Not A Total Wash

A windswept soaking rain will impact the weekend.  But the timing of the heaviest rain will help salvage some of our outdoor plans. Saturday looks mainly dry with the chance for shower late in the day.  Some towns will remain dry until Saturday night when steadier rain moves in, coming down heavy at times. Early Sunday morning is a soaker with a few lingering showers through the rest of the day.  Some brightening or breaks of sun are possible in the afternoon. A warming trend arrives next week.

Tonight: Partly cloudy, great sleeping weather. Low: mid 50s to around 60 degrees.

Tomorrow: Increasing clouds, chance for a late day shower. High: low 70s. Heavy windswept rain moving in at night.

Sunday: Early morning soaking rain. A few lingering showers with clouds slowly breaking for some afternoon sunshine. High: mid 70s to around 80 degrees.

Monday: Partly cloudy, pleasant. High: upper 70s to around 80 degrees.

Tuesday: Partly cloudy, humid chance for afternoon showers or thunderstorms. High: upper 70s to lower 80s.

Wednesday: Turning sunny, less humid. High: low to mid 80s.

Heavy Rain This Weekend

Friday will start off cloudy with the chance for a shower or two (mainly in the morning).  Some clearing is possible in the afternoon, especially late day.  This weekend will feature a period of heavy rain and cooler than average temperatures. But at least it won’t be a total wash out. Saturday morning looks dry with the chance for a few afternoon showers.  Luckily, the heaviest rain holds off until Saturday night.  Early heavy rain Sunday will taper to scattered showers for the rest of the day.

Tonight: Shower or two. Low: Low to mid 60s.

Tomorrow: Chance for a few showers, mainly in the morning. Clouds break for some afternoon sunshine. High: mid 70s to around 80 degrees.

Saturday: Increasing clouds, showers possible in the afternoon with heavy rain at night. High: low 70s.

Sunday: Early heavy rain tapers to some scattered showers. Cool.  High: low to mid 70s.

Monday: Partly cloudy, milder. High: mid 70s to around 80 degrees.

Tuesday: Partly cloudy, chance for afternoon showers or thunderstorms. High: upper 70s to lower 80s.

Severe Storms Likely Tomorrow

Strong to severe thunderstorms are possible Tuesday afternoon. The greatest threat will be from 1 – 7 pm with damaging winds, large hail and vivid lightning. There is also a chance for a tornado somewhere in New England thanks to ample wind shear (wind direction that changes with height).

Tuesday will start off cloudy with a spotty shower. Then clouds will break for some sun leading to a warm and humid afternoon. The more sun we get, the stronger afternoon storms will be. If clouds linger, that will limit the severe potential. Storms will be scattered in nature which means not every town will one. Northern Connecticut has slightly better parameters or ingredients for severe weather.  But strong storms are possible anywhere in the state.

I expect the National Weather Service will issue a Severe Thunderstorm Watch shortly.  Perhaps even a Tornado Watch for part of the state tomorrow.  We’ll keep you posted!

Loving this discussion of possible scenarios tomorrow from the NWS Boston
Tonight: Increasing clouds. Low: Mid 60s to near 70 degrees.

Tomorrow: Chance for a morning shower or thunderstorm. Warm and humid with clouds breaking for some sun.  Afternoon storms could be strong to severe. High: mid to upper 80s.

Thursday: Sunny to partly cloudy. High: lower 80s.

Friday: Mostly cloudy with scattered showers. High: low to mid 70s.

Saturday: Mostly cloudy. High: low to mid 70s.

Wet Dad's Day

Sunday morning heavy rain tapers to afternoon showers
The weather will not be perfect for outdoor plans with Dad this weekend. Saturday isn’t bad. But temperatures will remain cooler than average with increasing clouds. An isolated shower is possible too.  But the chance for rain goes up…way up on Sunday from the remnant moisture of once Tropical Storm Bill. Rain will be heavy at times Sunday morning. The afternoon looks drier and very humid with some brightening possible. But Saturday is still the safer bet for outdoor weekend plans. Summer arrives Sunday afternoon!

Tonight: Turning less humid. Partly cloudy. Low: Mid 50s to around 60 degrees.

Tomorrow: Some morning sun gives way to increasing clouds. Slight chance for an afternoon shower. High: low to mid 70s. Better chance for rain Saturday night.

Sunday: Very humid with periods of heavy rain in the morning. A few lingering showers in the afternoon with some brightening possible. High: upper 70s to around 80 degrees.

Monday: Mostly sunny, mild and muggy. High: mid 80s.

Tuesday: Clouds and sun with the chance for a few afternoon showers or a thunderstorm. High: upper 70s to lower 80s.

Wednesday: Mostly sunny. High: lower 80s.

Watching Bill

Friday will start off gloomy with overcast skies and the chance for a shower in spots. But clouds will break for sun as the day progresses. Temperatures will be milder than recent days, climbing into the middle 80s. Saturday will be cooler (70s) despite lots of sunshine. It’s also the pick of the weekend for outdoor plans. On Father’s Day the remnants of once Tropical Storm Bill will move into the northeast. Sunday looks humid and wet at times with scattered downpours and thunderstorms.

Tonight: Chance shower. Low: Low 60s.

Tomorrow: Chance for an early shower.  Morning clouds break for afternoon sunshine. Warmer with high:  mid 80s.

Saturday: Sunshine mixing with clouds, a bit cooler. High: mid to upper 70s inland, low 70s for the shoreline.

Sunday: Showers and thunderstorms likely. Humid. Rain could be locally heavy. High:mid to upper 70s.

Monday: Warm and humid, partly cloudy. High: low to mid 80s.

Tuesday: Partly cloudy, chance for an afternoon shower or thunderstorm. High: low to mid 80s.

Andon Is Going Viral!

Weekend Sandwiched By Showers

A few showers or dying thunderstorms are possible tonight as a cold front approaches.  Luckily, the front will move through Connecticut after peak heating of the day. Otherwise we could have severe weather in the forecast like areas to our northwest.

Our mild, summerlike stretch continues this weekend with highs in the 80s right down to the beaches (albeit a few degrees cooler than inland areas). Any showers will end before 8 am on Saturday. The rest of the day features improvement. Clouds will break for sun and less humid air will filter in as the day progresses. Sunday looks great too!  Early fog will burn away revealing lots of sunshine.  Luckily if summer warmth is drying out your lawn, rain returns on Monday and some could be heavy.

Tonight: Chance for a few showers or a thunderstorm in spots. Mild and muggy. Low: Mid 60s to around 70 degrees.

Tomorrow: Clouds break for sunshine. Becoming less humid as the day progresses.  Mild. High: low to mid 80s.

Sunday: Areas of fog in the early morning. Mostly sunny. Just a few high clouds from time to time. High: low to mid 80s.

Monday: Cool with showers and thunderstorms likely. Rain will come down heavy at times. High: upper 60s to low 70s.

Tuesday: A mix of clouds and sun with the chance for a lingering shower in spots. High: 80s.

Wednesday: Mostly sunny. High: Near 80 degrees.

Great Weekend: Dry, Low Humidity, 70s

Don’t let the gray sky Saturday morning scare you.  Early clouds will break for sunshine. Temperatures will climb into the 70s right down to the shoreline, making for a great beach day. Sunday will remain sunny with a few high clouds mixing in late day.  But temperatures will run a few degrees cooler, especially for the beaches with a sea breeze developing. Thunderstorms return to the forecast on Monday followed by a return to summer warmth. We have a chance at hitting 90 degrees by Wednesday.

Tonight: Chance for a shower. Low: mid 50s to around 60 degrees.

Tomorrow: Early clouds break for mostly sunny skies. North wind at 5 to 15 miles an hour. High: mid to upper 70s.

Sunday: Sunny, low humidity. High: low to mid 70s inland.  Cooler at the shoreline in the upper 60s to around 70 degrees.

Monday: Mostly cloudy with showers and thunderstorms developing, mainly in the afternoon.  High: mid 60s to around 70 degrees.

Tuesday: Chance for a lingering morning shower, then some clearing.  Milder. High: upper 70s to low 80s.

Wednesday: Sunny, warm. High: low to middle 80s.
