At 13 years old, I did a project on clouds at East Side Middle School in NYC and my love for weather was born. I dreamed about one day becoming a meteorologist like Mr G. Now, years later, I’m going to work with him! After 6 years at FOX CT, my final day is Friday May 23. I start my new job at WPIX 11 in NYC on Tuesday, May 27.
The whole experience has been bittersweet. 6 years ago if I got a job offer in NYC, I wouldn’t hesitate to go. Since then, I fell in love with Connecticut. I fell in love with the noises that all the “creatures” make at night. I fell in love with all the hiking trails, reservoirs, and other beautiful landscapes that make Connecticut so special. I fell in love with living a few miles away from a farm. I made lifelong friends and I actually enjoyed going to work every day at FOX CT (how many people can say that)?
My husband and I went back and forth with the decision for a while. But we both came to the same final conclusion. When the opportunity of a lifetime presents itself, you take it. Working in NYC has been my dream since I was a little girl. Once the final decision was made, the stress melted away and I became overwhelmingly excited!
Thank you so much to everyone who made me feel so welcome and appreciated here in Connecticut. The last six years have been the best of my life. Who knows what the next six years will bring?

Congratulations Rachel! You'll be missed.
I am so very happy for you, sad for us in Connecticut. Wishing you the very best. The most difficult part is making the decision, once that is made it becomes easier.
I also come from NY and there is no place like it and remember when you miss CT it is only a short drive away. Congrats and best wishes. Please keep us posted on facebook
Augh... Now wife and I will have to move to those others stations. Congrats n good luck.
Rachel, You are the reason that I watch FoxCT. This is a tremendous opportunity for you and I'm very happy you get to live your dream. I must say that this brings a small tear to my eye knowing that you won't be there to keep me informed of the weather here in CT. You are always so well informed and knowledgeable about forecasting. You are a pleasure to watch with your smiling face and always modest, tasteful fashions. It is nice to see a woman of your generation act like a lady. You are a class act!
I hope you keep up your blog so we can keep up with you. God bless you as you move on to bigger and better things.
I had no idea you were leaving. It's kinda sad however, I'm happy for you. It's not often when we who love the weather forecast, can learn from such a pretty lady. You will be missed Rachael. Thank you
Rachel so sorry to see you leave. I always enjoyed watching your professionalism and happiness that you always shared. Good luck on your new endeavors and thank you. I will miss watching you on FOX.
Thank you Hank!
Kavid....Don't go! I have so much faith in my colleagues at FoxCT. Everyone is so professional and dedicated to their work. But thank you so much for your support and well wishes. It means the world to me.
Hi Mary! Such sweet words, you almost brought a tear to MY eye!! Thank you so much for watching me and understanding why I have to go. I'm so happy you find my wardrobe tasteful too! I spend a long time assembling my work attire. Glad to know it's appreciated. Thanks again, wishing you the best!
Hi Rita, Thank you so much for the well wishes. I'm glad you could see my happiness living and working here in CT!
Thank you John! I'm so happy to hear you enjoyed learning from me. Teaching people about the weather is my absolute favorite!
What station are you going to work for?
Rachel, I would say that I will miss you when you leave FoxCT, but I won't. The reason - I already watch PIX-11 news in the morning, so to me it will just be a shift change for you.
Congratulations on having the opportunity to work in TV's largest market! I have met some of the people from PIX, and have found them to be wonderful and down to earth. I believe that you will fit in well with them. Best wishes on your new position, and don't forget, CT is right next door whenever you want to visit!
How did I miss this news??????? I am happy that you will get to live your dream, but SO SO sad that you are leaving. You were the only reason we watched Fox weather/news. You were the only forecast we trusted out of all the stations here. Oh, my............
Good luck, Rachel....you will be missed.
Ms. Frank,
I will greatly miss your even-tempered approach to weather. I don't know if you ever had the chance to see him but your approach reminds me of that of John Ghiorse, the long-time chief meteorologist of WJAR Channel 10 in Providence - just providing the weather information and forecast. I hope that your colleagues at FOX-61 who will be stepping into your spot will follow your lead in that regard. Good luck at WPIX!
Oh No!!! My husband and I thought maybe you were on vacation. We didn't know you left permanently. You will definitely be missed. I guess we're gonna have to check out other channels now. You were always so upbeat, classy and fun to watch. We wish you all the best. Enjoy NY! They are lucky to have you.
Never thought someone with your talent would last too long in the smaller Hartford Market. What a major loss to Fox 61 and this area. Definitely gifted as a reporter and you were worth waiting for each night before I collapsed after a long day.
I wish you the best of everything. Take care and God Bless Rach -
Wow! We kept hoping you were on vacation but we finally figured out! Congrats but boohoo! We loved you!
