Weekend Weather: Sunny Days, Cool Nights

For some kids this is the last weekend of summer before school starts.  Luckily, both days look spectacular for those who want to soak up every last minute of summer break.  The entire weekend looks sunny with low humidity, chilly mornings and pleasant afternoons.  Sunday is the warmer beach day. While the majority of the nation will get bathed in summer heat next week, New England will land on the dividing line between hot and cool. That means more clouds and showers in the forecast.

Tonight: Partly cloudy to clear, comfy. Low: 55-60.

Tomorrow: Cool start! Sunny with very low humidity. A few degrees cooler than recent days. High temperatures in the mid 70s to near 80 degrees.

Sunday: A refreshing and chilly start to the day. Sunny and seasonable. High temperatures in the low 80s.

Monday: Turning mostly cloudy with a few light showers developing, mainly in the afternoon. Heavy rain possible at night. Low 80s.

Tuesday: Early showers and clouds break for some sunshine. High temperatures near 80 degrees.

Wednesday: Showers developing and becoming more numerous as the day progresses. Heavy rain late day and at night. High: Near 80 degrees.

Looking Good Right Through The Weekend

Most of the evening looks quiet but humid.  A cold front will approach late tonight/early Friday.  But by the time it gets here, limited instability will only allow for an isolated shower.  Then get ready for a great stretch of weather behind the front…

The winds of change will be blowing drier air into New England on Friday. The day will remain warm but turn less humid with partly to mostly sunny skies. Above average temperatures will be felt right down to Connecticut’s beaches with a land breeze (winds out of the northwest). Saturday will be about five degrees cooler. This weekend will have a fall feel at times with chilly, refreshing mornings and low humidity. High pressure will keep the sky blue both days. Clouds, showers return next week.

Tonight: Chance isolated shower. Muggy. Low: 60s.

Friday: Partly to mostly sunny, breezy and turning less humid as the day progresses. Northwest wind 10 to 20 mph.

Saturday: Cooler and sunny with very low humidity. Pleasant! High temperatures in the upper 70s to near 80 degrees.

Sunday: Sunny, a bit warmer and pleasant. High temperatures in the low 80s.

Monday: Turning mostly cloudy with a few light showers developing, mainly in the afternoon. Heavy rain possible at night. Low 80s.

Tuesday: Early showers and clouds break for some sunshine. High temperatures near 80 degrees.

Pathetic August "Heat"

Today was the warmest day so far this month with a high temp of just 88 degrees.  That’s pretty pathetic for August standards!  Tomorrow will not be as warm but building moisture will make the air feel more humid and uncomfortable. The influx of moisture and a disturbance will provide the chance for some hit or miss showers Thursday with partly cloudy skies. The actual front will move by Friday morning. A lingering morning shower will give way too cooler, less humid heading into the weekend.

Tonight: Patchy fog. Low: 65-70.

Tomorrow: Morning fog. Partly cloudy, warm and humid. Scattered showers/thunder. Low to mid 80s.

Friday: An early shower, followed by some clearing. Turning less humid as the day progresses. Chance for a pop up afternoon shower. High: 75-81.

Saturday: Feeling like September! Dry, cooler and sunny with very low humidity. High: 72-78

Sunday: Sunny, a bit warmer and pleasant. Showers are possible by Monday. High: 75-80

Monday: Turning mostly cloudy with a few light showers developing, mainly in the afternoon. High: 77-82

More September Weather

Thursday morning will feel more like September than the middle of August!  Temperatures will continue to run below average through the end of the work week with abundant sunshine. Warmth will start to slowly build in this weekend.  But it’s a slow process.  Die hard summer lovers will have to wait until the end of next week for a shot at 90 degrees. Rain stays away for now with storms firing along a boundary in the southeast. High clouds from offshore storms might filter the sun at times this weekend.

Tonight: Clear, chilly! Low: 48-55

Tomorrow: A fall feel to the air with very low humidity, sunshine and colbalt blue skies. High temperatures in the mid 70s to near 80 degrees.

Friday: Mostly sunny, dry and pleasant. High temperatures in the upper 70s and low 80s.

Saturday: Sunshine and high clouds, turning a bit more humid, especially turning the afternoon. High temperatures in the low 80s

Sunday: A mix of sun and high clouds. A bit humid to start, less humid by afternoon. High temperatures in the low to mid 80s

Monday: Mostly sunny and comfortable. Mid 80s.  Turning warmer by the middle of next week with upper 80s possible.

ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ

That's the sound of me falling asleep while forecasting. This week looks really quiet!

A leftover shower or storm is possible in spots as a cold front approaches. The front will wash the moisture out of the air, allowing a refreshing fall-like air mass to move in.  High temps will stay in the 70s the next couple of days with blue skies and chilly mornings.  After the hottest month on record (July), August is off to a cooler start.  Temperatures are currently running 1-2.5 degrees below average. That trend will continue through the weekend.  Then next week the pattern will slowly change allowing some summer warmth and humidity to move back into Connecticut.  You will need to water the lawn and garden yourself with a long stretch of dry weather.

Tonight: A leftover shower, clearing. Low: 57-63

Tomorrow: Partly to mostly sunny. Turning less humid and breezy. Northwest wind 10 to 20 mph. High temperatures in the mid to upper 70s.

Thursday: A fall feel to the air with very low humidity, sunshine and colbalt blue skies. High temperatures in the mid 70s to near 80 degrees.

Friday: Mostly sunny, dry and pleasant. High temperatures in the upper 70s and low 80s.

Saturday: Mostly sunny, turning a bit more humid, especially turning the afternoon. High temperatures in the low 80s

Sunday: A mix of sun and clouds. High temperatures in the low to mid 80s.

Photobombed!

This couple didn't realize we photobombed them until I asked them for a copy of the pic. They have about 8 more just like this that they'll find in their phone tomorrow.
Had a blast at the Jay-Z/Timberlake concert at Fenway Saturday night!

One Little Bump In The Road

If you picked this week to take off from work, you won the weather lottery! The only bump in the road is Tuesday. The rest of the week looks dry and sunny.  The moisture in the air will increase Tuesday, making the air feel humid and adding fuel for scattered showers and downpours. Poor drainage flooding is possible in spots and don’t be surprised if you hear a few rumbles of thunder. Refreshing air moves back in at night with a fall-like air mass Wednesday and Thursday with highs in the 70s.

Tonight: Increasing clouds. Patchy fog, turning more humid. Low: Mid to upper 60s.
Tomorrow: Showers and heavier downpours. Humid. Chance for an isolated strong storm. High temperatures in the mid to upper 70s.
Wednesday: Partly to mostly sunny. Turning less humid as the day progresses. High temperatures in the mid 70s to near 80 degrees.
High temperatures in the low to mid 80s.

Record Rain Today

The weekend looks picturesque after Friday’s deluge. Windsor Locks ended up setting a new daily rainfall record with 3.79”. That’s nothing compared to parts of Litchfield county. Torrington received over 5” in 24 hours. But the rain has moved on and the humidity will follow. The next couple of days look fantastic with lots of sun and low humidity. Sunday will be just a few degrees cooler than Saturday.  The next chance for showers is Tuesday.  Otherwise next week looks dry and quiet.

Tonight: Few lingering showers. Clearing. Low: 60s

Tomorrow: Turning less humid and more comfortable as the day progresses. A bit warmer than recent days. Mostly sunny. High: Low 80s inland, near 80 for the shore.

Sunday: Sunny and dry with low humidity. Fantastic late summer weekend! Low 80s inland, near 80 for the shoreline.

Monday: Sunny to partly sunny and pleasant. Clouds increasing late in the day. High: Low to mid 80s.

Tuesday: Mostly cloudy with showers developing, mainly in the afternoon and evening. Rain could be heavy at times. Humid. High: Low 80s.

Wednesday: Turning noticeably less humid and sunny. Great stretch of weather right through the end of next week! High: Near 80.

Stormy Tomorrow

Not a lot going on to start off the night.  The best moisture and instability remain west of Connecticut…for now.  But we are certainly not out of the woods. Showers will become more numerous towards daybreak.

Keep an umbrella nearby Friday with heavy rain at times with embedded thunderstorms. Downpours can happen at any time of the day.  Some of the storms could be strong and will need to be monitored. Although there is low instability in the atmosphere, the wind shear (wind direction turning with height) is just right. This means there is a possibility for low topped supercells if we can get some storms to develop.

Very humid, almost tropical air remains in place through tonight. A cold front Friday night will help wash the moisture out of the air.  Early morning clouds Saturday will break for sun with drier comfy air streaming in. Both days this weekend look perfect and most of next week looks dry and sunny.

Tonight: Mainly dry through midnight, showers and storms becoming more numerous towards daybreak. Low: Near 70

Tomorrow: Very humid with periodic downpours and embedded thunderstorms. Some storms could be strong to severe. High: Near 80

Saturday: Early clouds break for sunshine. Turning less humid and more comfortable as the day progresses. A bit warmer than recent days. High: Mid 80s

Sunday: Sunny and dry with low humidity. Fantastic late summer weekend! High: Low 80s

Monday: Sunny skies for most of the day. Clouds increasing late and at night. High: Low to mid 80s

Tuesday: Increasing clouds with showers developing, mainly in the afternoon. Low to mid 80s

Rain Late Week

The last couple of days felt more like fall than the beginning of August!  The overall weather pattern will change this weekend with temperatures returning to average. But before that transition we have to get through some rain first. Wednesday isn’t bad.  Morning sun will fade behind increasing clouds. Most towns will stay dry with just a slight chance for a late day shower. Rain is more likely at night with scattered showers and storms continuing through Friday before we clear up this weekend.
Tonight: Partly cloudy, not as cool as recent nights but still good sleeping weather. Low: 55-65
Tomorrow: Sun followed by increasing clouds. Chance for a late day shower. Showers are more likely to develop at night. High: Low 80s

Thursday: Mostly cloudy with scattered showers and storms. Turning increasingly humid. High: Upper 70s and Low 80s
Friday: Cloudy and very humid with tropical downpours and thunderstorms. Some storms could be strong. Upper 70s and low 80s
Saturday: Early clouds break for sunshine. Turning less humid and more comfortable as the day progresses. A bit warmer than recent days. High: Low to mid 80s
Sunday: Sunny and dry with low humidity. Fantastic late summer weekend! High: Low 80s

Fall Feel!

The record low for Tuesday is 47 in Windsor Locks and 53 degrees for Bridgeport. Temperatures will be in the ballpark tonight into tomorrow morning with an early fall feel to the air.  With mostly sunny skies, temps will rebound nicely in the afternoon with low humidity.  The moisture in the air will begin to increase Wednesday along with the cloud cover. The next batch of showers will likely hold off until Wednesday night.  This next system will be slow to move out with unsettled weather through Friday.

Tonight: Clear, cold. Low: 47-55
Tomorrow: Chilly start with a fall feel. Mostly sunny, low humidity. Sea breeze kicking in for the afternoon. Few high clouds. High: 77-82
Wednesday: Early sun followed by increasing clouds. Turning more humid with the chance for a late day shower. Showers are more likely at night. High: Upper 70s to near 80
Thursday: Scattered showers and storms. Rain could come down heavy at times. Very humid. High: Upper 70s to low 80s
Friday: Mostly cloudy, chance for a few leftover showers or a thunderstorm. Remaining humid. High: Upper 70s to low 80s
Saturday: Turning sunny, less humid and pleasant. Sunday looks great too! High: Low to mid 80s

Rain Clears For Friday

Showers and storms will continue to fill in the radar tonight, especially between midnight and 3 am.  Improvement is in the forecast for Friday. Any early clouds, showers and fog should move out around or even before daybreak. The rest of the day will turn out partly to mostly sunny while turning less humid. The weekend doesn't look bad, but it’s not completely perfect either.  A few hit of miss showers are possible Saturday with a mix of clouds and sun.  Sunday looks sunnier, but another fast moving disturbance could bring the chance for a late day shower. Most of the weekend will be dry.
Tonight: Scattered showers and storms. Low: 65-70.
Tomorrow: Showers move out around/before daybreak. Early clouds and fog clear out with partly to mostly sunny skies and falling humidity. High: Mid 80s
Saturday: A mix of sun and clouds. Chance for a few hit or miss showers but most of the day should stay dry.
Low 80s
Sunday: Sunshine mixing with a few afternoon clouds, chance for an isolated shower or storm late in the day.
Upper 70s to near 80
Monday: Mostly sunny, dry and pleasant. Dew points could drop into the 40s with an early fall feel to the air. Upper 70s

Tuesday: Sunshine fading behind increasing clouds. Dry during the day with rain possible at night. Upper 70s to near 80.
