More Rain Tomorrow

There will be a little lull in the rain for a while this evening with patchy fog and drizzle.  But an area of steadier rain will develop later tonight and towards daybreak tomorrow.

On Wednesday you might want an umbrella and a jacket. Periods of rain combined with temperatures in the low to mid 60s will make it feel raw outside. Some of the rain could be locally heavy, helping to chip away at the rainfall deficit. The weather will start to dry out Thursday with clouds breaking for some sun in the afternoon.  Friday looks even brighter with partly to mostly sunny skies. But wet weather doesn’t stay away for long! Saturday could be a soaker with periods of rain, some of which could be heavy.  An autumn chill settles in Sunday but at least the weather will dry out for one day this weekend!

Forecast Details:

Tonight: Patchy fog and drizzle, steady rain developing late. Low: 55-60.

Tomorrow: Periods of rain, some could be locally heavy. Cloudy and raw with patchy fog. High temperatures in the low to middle 60s.

Thursday: Drying out. A cloudy start to the day with some breaks of sun in the afternoon. High temperatures in the low to mid 60s.

Friday: Early morning fog burns away, revealing mostly sunny skies. High temperatures in the upper 60s to around 70 degrees.

Saturday: Periods of rain, some heavy. High temperatures in the middle to upper 60s.

Sunday: Cool despite plenty of sunshine with high temperatures in the lower to middle 60s.

Falling Back To Fall

Today was the last taste of summer for a while!  After record warmth yesterday, a backdoor front will bring a return to fall reality.  Instead of 80s, high temperatures will remain in the upper 60s to low 70s all week.

The winds of change are courtesy of a backdoor cold front. Clouds will continue to thicken up tonight with some patchy fog and drizzle possible toward overnight into tomorrow morning.

The rest of the Tuesday will be mostly cloudy with the chance for a shower in spots. Wednesday is very similar with lots of clouds and a shower or two. But these showers will be far and few between. This is not a drought buster by any means. The next chance for significant rain is Saturday.

Tonight: Cloudy with patchy fog and drizzle developing late. Low: Near 60.

Tomorrow: Chance early fog and drizzle. Otherwise, mostly cloudy with the chance for a shower in spots. High temperatures around 70 degrees.

Wednesday: Morning fog and drizzle. Cloudy with the chance for a shower or two. High temperatures in the upper 60s to around 70 degrees.

Thursday: Mostly cloudy, chance for sprinkle or passing shower. High temperatures in the upper 60s.

Friday: Partly cloudy, more sun than recent days. High temperatures around 70 degrees.

Saturday: Cloudy with showers and areas of rain, especially in the morning through mid afternoon. High temperature near 70 degrees.

Fall Fair Feeling Like Summer This Weekend

Tonight will be clear and comfy for Friday night football games.  Temperatures will tumble into the lower to middle 50s.

This weekend we’re taking a trip back to summer.  Lucky for us, the great weather happens to coincide with fair season!  Both days will be sunny with high temperatures in the upper 70s to lower 80s.  That’s warm for late September. In fact, the temperatures at Windsor Locks on Sunday will approach the record for that day of 83 degrees, last set in 1959. Monday remains mild with increasing clouds.  By Tuesday fall will be back in full swing with high temperatures only in the 60s and low 70s.

Forecast Details:
Tonight: Clear and Comfy. Low: 50-55.

Today : Mostly sunny and nice! High temperatures in the mid to upper 70s.
Saturday: Sunny and warm! High temperatures in the upper 70s to lower 80s.
Sunday: Another winner! Sunny and warm. High temperatures in the upper 70s to lower 80s.
Monday: Sunshine mixing with high clouds. High temperatures in the middle to upper 70s.
Tuesday: Mostly cloudy, chance for a passing shower or sprinkle. High temperatures in the upper 60s to around 70 degrees.
Wednesday: Partly cloudy, seasonably cool. High temperatures in the upper 60s to around 70 degrees.

Improvement Friday, Spectacular Weekend

A Minot To Moderate Short-term Drought For Most of Connecticut
The storm bringing the cloudy, damp, dreary conditions will slowly pull out to sea tonight, passing southeast of Nantucket. Occasional rain and drizzle will continue through tonight with temperatures dropping into the lower to middle 50s.

You already made it through the worst day of the week! It’s smooth sailing from here.  Any lingering early morning clouds will break for sunshine on Friday with high temperatures in the mid to upper 70s.  This weekend will feel like a trip back to late summer with abundant sunshine and highs in the low 80s.

There is no good soaking in the forecast looking ahead to the middle of next week.  That’s not great news for your lawn or garden. The US Drought monitor has declared most of the state in a minor to moderate drought.

Tonight: Occasional rain and drizzle. Low: 50-55.

Tomorrow: Early clouds break for sunshine.

Much Needed Rain Thursday

Thursday's forecast is looking cooler and wetter.  While a slow moving storm moves up the east coast, a strong elongated high pressure ridge will fight back and try to hold its ground. The interaction between the two weather systems leaves a lot of uncertainty regarding how much rain we could see on Thursday.  Either way, it looks like southern Connecticut could get the jackpot. And any rain that falls will be beneficial!  Over the last 2 months, Connecticut has accumulated a 3 to 6" rainfall deficit!

Tonight: Not as cold. Low: 45-50 inland. 50-53 for  the shoreline.

Tomorrow: Sunny start, increasing afternoon clouds. Low 70s

Thursday: Showers or a period of heavier rain.  Cloudy and cool.  Low to mid 60s.

Friday: Clouds break for some sunshine. Low to mid 70s.

Saturday & Sunday: Sunny.  Upper 70s & low 80s.

Back To Connecticut! Starting A Family & Rejoining My FOXCT Family

It has been my dream to become a meteorologist in NYC since I was a little girl. I can’t tell you how surreal it is to have succeeded! I spent four exciting months working at PIX11 News, sharing the morning weather duties with Linda Church (who is one of my favorite people). But as many of you know, I’m pregnant with a baby boy!  It’s funny how your priorities shift when you’re growing a tiny human.  Family comes first. After much thought and consideration my husband and I decided it would be best for our growing family to return to Connecticut.

I’m so incredibly thankful to have had the opportunity to work in the #1 market. I learned a lot about myself and made a ton of new friends.  I’m also very thankful that FOXCT has welcomed me back with open arms. I really missed my friends, family and coworkers. Even though I grew up in NYC, somewhere down the line Connecticut started to feel more like home to me. My husband is from the greater Hartford area so he's excited to return to his roots! We have an incredible support system as we begin a new chapter of our lives.

I’m thrilled to get back to work with the FOXCT weather family including Joe, Dan, Sam, Bob… and a special thank you to Matt for filling my spot and then graciously welcoming me back to my old position.  Starting on Monday you can watch me on the FOXCT News at 4pm, 5pm, 10pm and 11pm.  I can't wait! Thank you once again for all the love and support!

I look a little different from the last time you saw me!

Fall Feel Today

Forecast High Temps Friday Via The ECMWF
We have had many cool mornings in the 40s and 50s. But each afternoon, temps warmed up into the 70s.  Not today!

High temps will struggle through the 60s! Any early clouds will break for mostly sunny skies.

A little warm up is on the way for this weekend. High temperatures will climb back into the mid 70s on Saturday, and the upper 70s to near 80 degrees on Sunday.  There is a chance for showers for the second half of the weekend.  Mainly late Sunday into early Monday.

Doesn't this weather get you in the mood for apple picking? Mmm apples, apple pie, apple cider, apple fritters, apple cider donuts...
